Built by Swiss immigrants at the height of Brazil's coffee era, Fazenda Neuchatel keeps a European-style manor, a six-metre water wheel preserved in the cellar and the living memory of Guaratinguetá. Today it hosts visits, events, retreats and overnight guests.

From buried ruin to living heritage
In 2001 the house lay under three metres of debris. The reconstruction followed the family's original photographs, brick by brick, until the Paraíba Valley got back a manor that could have come straight from the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel.
